Welcome…
I’ve never really gotten around to writing a blog. I’ve been quite happy, actually, using Twitter to share brief observations and notes on what I’m up to. I don’t expect that to change, but on a number of occasions lately I’ve been frustrated by Twitter’s 140 character limit, its unsophisticated way of including media, and the inflexibility in linking to other relevant content on the web. (Even with URL shortening you can’t really include more than one link in a tweet.)
I do really like the easy way of publishing with Twitter. I like the sense of community built by following and being followed. I’m not sure that translates to a blog, but after seeing a few friends experiment with Tumblr I’m inclined to give it a try. If it works, great. If it doesn’t then I’ll tear it down no harm, no foul.
In addition to quick tidbits that won’t quite fit into a tweet, I have in mind sharing information here that I’d like to think is useful. I’ve got some projects underway across several of my (too many) hobbies — astronomy, programming (especially my experiences learning JavaFX), photography, travel, and a deep fascination with gizmos & gadgets to name a few.
I guess we’ll see…
